Onset Time. (When will I feel it?)

In healthcare, Onset Time (often called Onset of Action) is the duration of time it takes for a medication or treatment to produce its first noticeable effect and begins working.

Duration of Action. (How long will it last?)

Duration of Action in pharmacology is the length of time a drug's concentration remains high enough to produce its intended therapeutic effect. It begins when the drug first reaches the minimum effective concentration and ends when it drops below that threshold.

Bioavailability. (What is it?)

Bioavailability refers to how much of an active ingredient actually reaches the bloodstream and becomes available for the body to use.

Think of it this way: If someone consumes 10mg of THC, they will not actually absorb all 10mg.

​

The percentage the body absorbs depends on the delivery method. Different delivery methods lose different amounts before the cannabinoids ever reach circulation in the blood stream.

The higher the bioavailability, the more efficiently the body uses the cannabinoids.

What Is an Oral Thin Film?

​

An Oral Thin Film (OTF) is a small dissolvable strip that is consumed by placing the thin, flexible strip under the tongue (sublingual),  or on the tongue (orodispersible), or inner cheek (buccal), where it dissolves in saliva without water. Within seconds it begins dissolving and releases cannabinoids directly through the tissues of the mouth. In appearance it looks much like a Listerine Breath Strip.

When taken sublingually or buccally, instead of first traveling through the digestive system, the majority of the active ingredients are absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the oral mucosa.
